چکیده

The demand of tissue papers is increasing with the population increase. This will definitely increase need wood fibers as main raw material. However, due to shortages, there have been many attempts use non- substitutes for papermaking. In Indonesia, corn production has gradually increased last 5 years, hence it also an impact on raising in amount husk waste. Corn a high cellulose content which suitable be used material this experiment, soda pulping process was conducted remove out lignin. resulting paper added additives that antimicrobial properties chitosan and mangosteen peel purpose tensile strength or absorption water. aim research study effect depending variables (temperature NaOH concentration) chemical composition (cellulose lignin content), physical including water strength. The started initial removing pulp by pretreating delignification using sodium hydroxide (NaOH) several variations concentration (4–10%), temperature (60–90°C) 1.5 hours. To obtain good condition, influenced optimum containing low content, absorption. conditions were at 90°C 4% concentration. next step vary additive order (tensile absorption).

Functional analysis of corn husk photosynthesis.

The husk surrounding the ear of corn/maize (Zea mays) has widely spaced veins with a number of interveinal mesophyll (M) cells and has been described as operating a partial C(3) photosynthetic pathway, in contrast to its leaves, which use the C(4) photosynthetic pathway. Here, we characterized photosynthesis in maize husk and leaf by measuring combined gas exchange and carbon isotope discrimina...

The Potential of Natural Waste (Corn Husk) for Production of Environmental Friendly Biodegradable Film for Seedling

The use of plastic materials in agriculture causes serious hazards to the environment. The introduction of biodegradable materials, which can be disposed directly into the soil can be one possible solution to this problem. In the present research results of experimental tests carried out on biodegradable film fabricated from natural waste (corn husk) are presented. The film was characterized by...

Effect of Nfc from Organosolv Corn Stalk Pulp on Retention and Drainage during Papermaking

Valuable chemical compounds can be produced from corn stalk in a biorefinery by means of the organosolv process. However, 41% of the corn stalk is cellulose, which is commonly used to produce bioethanol whose profitability is not high because of the cost of the process. The use of this cellulose to produce nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) could improve the profitability of the process. NFC has g...
